Germany — an indoor trampoline sports venue of about 3,100 sqm that had been operating for many years.
Aging equipment, outdated attractions and low space utilisation: these are the problems that many older indoor playgrounds eventually run into. This client wanted to complete an upgrade while keeping costs under control, rather than opening a brand-new venue.
After the project was delivered, the client said something the team still remembers: "Next time we need a venue, we'll come to Pokiddo again. Thank you very much for all your work."
This is the story of an older venue's upgrade — and a story about meeting a hard problem head-on.

Cooperation count: first cooperation
(About 3,100 sqm is the total venue area; about 400 sqm is the scope of the core upgrade. The two figures describe different things, and no ratio between them is stated or implied.)

The client operates an indoor trampoline sports venue of about 3,100 sqm. When he came to us, he faced a very practical problem: the venue had grown old.
The indoor playground equipment was aging, the attractions were outdated, and space utilisation was less than ideal. But for this client, opening a new venue would have cost too much and carried too much risk. What they wanted was to make the venue attractive again through a partial indoor playground upgrade on the existing site.
This indoor playground upgrade uses an own-brand cooperation model. The client's objective was clear: to renew the core equipment and strengthen the venue's competitiveness while keeping costs under control.
This was also our first cooperation with this client.

As this project moved forward, it ran into several technical problems that had to be taken seriously.
The floor conditions on the client's site were very limited, and the harder problem was this: the ceiling had no supporting cross beams. For a category such as a high ropes course, which places extremely high demands on structural stability, that is a major challenge.
The site was also leased, and the client's requirement was to avoid altering the original structure as far as possible.
That meant we had to find a solution that could be delivered safely without damaging the existing structure, working entirely within the limits of the building as it stood.
The whole engineering team held repeated workshops around this, discussed every possibility in depth, and kept testing whether each fallback plan could genuinely be installed safely.
More critically: the plan we had agreed with the client at the start of the project was reassessed later against European-standard structural calculations, and a safety risk was identified. Combined with the many constraints on the client's site, continuing with the original plan carried substantial risk.
We made a decision: to raise this risk with the client openly, and to look for a solution together with them.
Faced with a safety risk that we had raised ourselves, the client's first reaction was not dissatisfaction but understanding and acknowledgement. The client was very satisfied with our professional approach in identifying the problem promptly and proposing a solution.
In the end, with both sides working together, the project found a safe and workable path to delivery. The client's understanding and support for our openness and professionalism laid the foundation of trust for the smooth delivery that followed.

Many details during the installation left a deep impression on the team.
Because of the particular nature of this project, the ropes course area had to be installed at night. The client's whole family stayed on site throughout, working alongside our installers and handling everything themselves.
The client's father cooked for our installers every day, and occasionally took them out for Chinese food. The client also arranged very thoughtfully for where the installers would rest and stay.
Two members of the client's family were on site throughout, thinking of everything. Our colleague said: "The client was extremely courteous, and his younger brother also handled everything himself — whatever we needed, they made sure it was covered."
One evening the client took the team to a Chinese restaurant for a buffet. Over the meal he said:
"You at Pokiddo are excellent — excellent design, excellent installation work. Next time we need a venue, we'll come to Pokiddo again. Thank you very much for all your work."

After the project was delivered, the client sent a thank-you letter. It read:
"The team you sent us is absolutely first class. These members are extremely hard-working, friendly, warm, good-humoured and highly motivated. They clearly know their work inside out. For every task and every step they were fully prepared and knew the best way to handle it. Their experience and professionalism were of enormous benefit to us.
They also worked very quickly and efficiently — working with them was a genuine pleasure.
Thank you very much for all the support you gave us, and for sending such an outstanding team. The park under construction will be spectacular; even now it already looks extremely impressive. We are very much looking forward to the finished result."
"For next Project we want the same team!!"

On the effect of the upgrade, the client is the best judge.
The client told us in person: while the ropes course was still in the early stages of installation, the venue already had a large number of bookings lined up, and players were very much looking forward to the project opening.
Although the client did not provide specific revenue comparison data, the strength of the booking demand suggests that this upgrade has met the client's expected objectives.
The client's overall assessment of the upgrade was: very satisfied.
The client has also stated clearly that they intend to open another new venue — it is simply that finding a suitable site in Germany is not easy.

An indoor playground upgrade of an older venue demands more of a supplier's all-round capability than a new build does.
New indoor playground equipment has to fit the existing structure; construction has to connect with conditions on site; and dimensions, connection points and installation sequence cannot stay on the rendering. More importantly: when a safety risk is found in the plan, is the supplier willing to say so openly, and to solve it together with the client?
This project once again confirmed Pokiddo's core strengths:
Indoor playground design capability:completing the custom indoor playground design of the ropes course, climbing wall and laser tag arena within constrained site conditions
Engineering capability:working around a ceiling with no cross beams and a leased site, through repeated workshops, to a safe delivery
Professional attitude: identifying the risk ourselves, communicating it openly and solving it together with the client
Delivery quality: the client's assessment — "an absolutely first-class team", "very quick and efficient"
Long-term trust:the client stated clearly that "next time we'll come to Pokiddo again", and intends to open another new venue
From Schwerin, Germany, to the next venue, the trust continues.
