Project Name: Indoor Soft Playground Design Project for Ages 3-15, Milan
Area: 500 square meters (sqm)
Ceiling Height: 6 meters
Designer: POKIDDO
Location: Milan, Italy

In Milan, the family entertainment market is characterized by "high quality, strong social elements, and a focus on experience." Parents prioritize safety and educational value in children's play but also seek aesthetic appeal and uniqueness in the environment. Currently, most indoor playgrounds in Milan cater primarily to younger children, leaving a clear market gap for a comprehensive Soft Playground that serves the full 3-15 age range and combines thrilling experiences with an artistic atmosphere.
Designed by POKIDDO, this 500 sqm project leverages a well-proportioned layout and a 6-meter ceiling height to address this exact need. It creates a unique indoor playground that integrates "Artistic Aesthetics + All-Ages Play + Social Scenarios." Deeply infused with Milan's design DNA while meeting core child development needs, the space provides age-appropriate play experiences for children 3-15 and creates a high-quality environment for family interaction. Furthermore, it establishes a diversified profit model, ensuring a strong Return on Investment (ROI).
Maximizing Spatial Advantages
The 500 sqm space utilizes a strategy of "separating active and quiet zones, and leveraging vertical space" to maximize value. The 6-meter height allows for double-level playground structures and aerial features like a zip line and high-drop slides, breaking the constraints of the floor plan. The regular shape facilitates clear zoning into distinct play, party, and support areas, preventing cross-traffic and enhancing both safety and flow.
Functional Zoning Plan
Soft Playground Core Area: Features four main structures: a stainless steel double helix slide, a turbo tunnel slide, an LED-lit wave slide, and a soft play obstacle course. This creates a loop of "High-Thrill > Light Challenge > Fun Interaction," catering to different ages. The circulation path is circular, ensuring no dead ends.
Compact Trampoline Zone: Positioned adjacent to the core area, it combines trampolines with safety nets, preventing interference with high-thrill activities. It serves the mild bouncing needs of 3-10-year-olds and acts as a "transition zone," guiding visitor flow.
Low-Level Zip Line: Utilizes the venue's length for a 10-meter zip line, offering the thrill of gliding safely and complementing the core area's offerings with a "vertical" experience.
Central Tabletop Building Block Area: Acts as the "quiet zone." Located centrally, it provides themed building tables for creative development in children aged 3-8 and offers a temporary rest spot for parents, balancing the area's dynamic.
Three Party Rooms: Clustered together as private suites (approx. 23-24 sqm each). They are situated to minimize noise disruption from the play areas yet remain easily accessible, catering to birthday parties and small group events.

Soft Playground Core Facilities
Stainless Steel Double Helix Slide: Made from 304 stainless steel, this dual-spiral slide allows for "two-way sliding" and is suited for ages 5-12. The slide's internal diameter and slope comply with safety standards, ensuring fun without excessive speed. Its sleek silver-grey finish and transparent acrylic safety panels blend Milanese style with security, exiting onto a 5cm thick soft mat.
Turbo Tunnel Slide (Near-Vertical): The park's "thrill centerpiece," built against a wall, stands 5 meters high with a 4.2-meter drop and a near-90-degree angle for teens (10-15). It features a dark blue sliding surface and an extended run-out zone for safe deceleration.
LED-lit Wave Slide: Designed for younger children (3-8), this trumpet-shaped slide is made from black fiberglass with integrated multi-color LED strips that change during the slide, creating a dreamy effect. Its gentle slope and slow speed exit onto soft mats.
Soft Play Obstacle Course: Crafted from eco-friendly soft foam and PVC covers, it includes hurdles, crawl tunnels, balance bridges, and climbing slopes for ages 3-10. The course develops motor skills and spatial judgment while offering a sense of adventure. All edges are rounded for safety.
Other Featured Zones
Compact Trampoline Zone: Features high-quality, anti-slip trampolines surrounded by 1.8m safety nets (capacity 150kg). "Play Guide" signs suggest games ("Jump to Pop Balloons," "Synchronized Jump"), enhancing interactivity and fun.
10m Low-Level Zip Line: Uses high-tensile ropes with a controlled speed. It features adjustable safety harnesses with anti-fall buckets for ages 5-15. Soft railings on both sides and buffers at start/end points ensure safety, complemented by thick soft flooring beneath.
Central Tabletop Building Block Area: Offers themed building sets for "City Construction," alongside a "Showcase Zone" for finished creations, stimulating creativity. Seating around the perimeter allows for easy parental supervision.
V. Party Room Design
The three party rooms employ a "Theme Customization + Flexible Adaptation" design, meeting Milanese families' demand for personalized celebrations while ensuring operational efficiency. Each room is equipped with independent audio, a projector, and a serving counter, supporting customized decorations. By partnering with the cafe, they can offer light meals, cakes, and beverages suited to local tastes, creating a profitable package of "Venue Rental + Customized Catering + Value-Added Services."

Design Highlights:
All-Ages Design: Breaks the "young-child-only" mold in Milan. Facilities are layered by age: soft play, blocks, and wave slides for younger kids; turbo slides, zip lines, and helix slides for teens. This broader appeal increases footfall and space utilization.
Safety-Experience Balance: All equipment complies with EU EN 1176 safety standards. Materials are non-toxic and fire-retardant. High-thrill features have double safety mechanisms. Precise control over slope, speed, and height maintains excitement without compromising safety, alleviating parental concerns.
ROI Analysis: Diversified Revenue for Strong Returns
Cost Control:
Equipment: Priority on durable, low-maintenance materials (stainless steel, high-tensile nets) reduces long-term replacement costs.
Operations: "Core fixed staff + part-time peak hours" model optimizes labor costs. Easy regular maintenance (cleaning, lubrication) minimizes repair bills. Partnering with local F&B suppliers reduces procurement and inventory expenses.
Revenue Streams:
Admission: Tiered ticketing (Single Visit, Family Pass, Monthly Membership) aligns with local family weekend/holiday habits.
Party Room Rental: Base fee per room, with significant upsell from catering and theme customization. Projection: 30-40 events monthly.
Ancillary Revenue: Sales of themed block sets, "Trampoline Skill Workshops," and hosting school field trips and corporate family day events.
