In the city of Avila, Spain, the medieval city walls have been designated as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The old town is filled with stone alleys and Gothic churches. But right in the heart of the city, at the Pokiddo shopping mall, a family sports and entertainment center designed by Avila is striving to become a truly "popular spot" - a preferred destination for weekend playtime for children and corporate team-building activities. Most importantly, it just fills the gap in Avila - this place (with a total population of 160,000 including the surrounding area) previously lacked a decent indoor amusement park where parents, children, and the elderly could all have a comfortable time, either leaving children to play while adults do other things, or resorting to outdoor parks which would be useless on rainy days.
After receiving the project requirements, we communicated with the client for nearly a week. We talked to parents in the shopping mall, coffee shop owners on the street, and the managers of several local enterprises. We identified two real pain points:
First, it's very difficult for parents to take their children out for play - either they have to go to an outdoor park outside the city, only to get soaked in the rainy season of Spain; or they have to go to a small amusement park in the city center, which only has a few rocking toys and a small slide. The children play for half an hour and get bored, while the parents can only sit there and scroll through their phones, without any sense of participation.
Second, there is no place for corporate team building - there are many small local companies, and if they want to hold a team building event, they have to go to the suburbs for hiking, which is uncomfortable in summer and too cold in winter; or they can just do some ice-breaking games in the meeting room, but the employees are not motivated at all.
Therefore, from the very beginning, this project did not follow the "pure children's amusement park" model. Instead, "age-sharing" was given top priority. For instance, the location was chosen on the third floor of a city shopping mall, with a supermarket and restaurant right next to it. After parents take their children to play, they can directly go to eat and shop. The amusement equipment is not only strictly controlled for safety (fully in accordance with the EU EN1176/EN1177 standards, from the soft areas' foam to the elasticity of the trampoline, all have been sent for third-party testing), but also pays attention to "whether everyone can participate" - just as we observed during operation, on weekends, there are often three generations coming to play together. The grandfather accompanies the grandson on the 45-degree slide, the parents do the jumping on the trampoline area, and the grandmother sits next to the soft area watching the children, each having their own comfort.
Now let's take a look at the project functions designed by Pocket House for the Avila area in Spain.

This area is designed for children over 7 years old and adults. The trampolines inside are of professional models that comply with PAS 5000 and ASTM F2970 standards - adults can jump up to 86 centimeters high, and children can jump with a safe height of 75 centimeters. Even if they don't stand firmly and fall, they won't get hurt.
Based on the experiences accumulated from the operation of dozens of stores of the Pocket House, it can be seen that this is not a "private territory" for children. Instead, parents are more engaged in the activities. For instance, in the Spider-Man wall-climbing game, one could often see fathers wearing sticky clothes and competing with their children to see who could jump higher and stick better. The mother beside them held a mobile phone to take pictures, smiling even more happily than the children. There was also an NBA-style dunking trampoline with a 4-meter-long buffer zone. Before that, a 10-year-old boy practiced for half an hour and finally made a successful dunk. His father immediately told our staff, "This is much more meaningful than playing games at home."
Now this area will become a "mini arena" for local teenagers. On weekends, a group of junior high school students will organize a trampoline obstacle race on their own. We have also taken advantage of this situation and provided them with small prizes. As a result, these children have become regular visitors to the park and will even bring their classmates along.
The slide equipment has two different slopes, so as not to make people feel that "they can't play". The 45-degree dry slide is particularly favored by young children and the elderly; the 60-degree extreme slide nearby is the favorite of teenagers, "each time sliding down makes me feel extremely relieved, much more comfortable than doing homework at home".
For safety reasons, we have specially installed two staircases to create a diversion - the ascending path is on the left and the descending path is on the right. Additionally, during weekends, there will be staff members standing by to supervise, thus preventing potential collision accidents during actual operation.

This area (suitable for those over 8 years old) was originally designed for teenagers who enjoy challenges and has become a popular choice for corporate team building. The art climbing wall inside is divided into different levels of difficulty by color - the red path is the easiest and even beginners can climb; the black path is the most difficult and is suitable for those with experience. When local companies conduct team building, the employees can be divided into groups to compete in climbing the climbing wall. After climbing, colleagues who were not familiar with each other will pat each other's shoulders and say, "I didn't expect you to be so good."
And there is also a 3.5-meter-high diving platform. The sponge pool beneath it is 1.2 meters deep, and when you fall into it, it feels as soft as sinking into cotton.
If you want to know the most lively area in the entire park, it has to be the Adventure Challenge Area - kids as young as 4 years old in kindergarten, as well as parents in their thirties, can all find something to enjoy playing together here. Take the Ninja Challenge as an example. The levels have obstacles such as balance beams, rings, and electric challenges. Imagine a scene: The father is leading his 6-year-old son through the challenge. The child holds onto the rings and is too scared to move forward, his face turning red and shouting in fear. The father just quietly reaches out to support him: "Keep your feet steady before moving, don't rush. Once you are stable, grab the next ring with one hand." Finally, the two of them held hands and passed the challenge. The child was so happy that he jumped up and shouted, "I won!"
For the 3v3 mini football field, we set up a soft fence around it. Even if children and adults play together, there's no need to worry about getting hurt. Sometimes on weekends when there are a lot of people, we form "parent-child teams" to play against "adult teams". The losing team has to perform a short show, and the atmosphere is particularly good.
For the soft play area designed for children under the age of 6, our top priority is "parent's peace of mind". The slides and children's castles inside are all covered with soft materials. Even if the children fall while running, they won't get hurt. There are also interactive projection games in the ocean ball pool, and when the children are bouncing the balls, patterns of stars and bubbles will appear on the ground. Many babies can play in it for an entire morning. In the design plan, we specially added a children's zone separated from other areas by soft fences to prevent older children from running in and bumping into the younger ones.
