In Shandong, China, as families' demand for integrating children's physical exercise with fun entertainment becomes increasingly urgent, building a children's play space that combines challenge and safety has become a market necessity. Designed by POKIDDO, this project leverages a regular 550-square-meter site and a sufficient 6-meter clear height to integrate diverse high-altitude and ground-based play facilities, accurately matching the growth needs of 5-15-year-old children. It not only provides a safe exploration scenario for younger children (5-8 years old) but also creates a high-difficulty physical challenge space for older children (9-15 years old). Through a combination of characteristic facilities and localized operation planning, while meeting the demand of Shandong families for "learning through play", it builds a stable profit model for investors and ensures a considerable return on investment (ROI).
Age-Appropriate Stratified Design
Based on the physical differences and interest preferences of 5-15-year-old children, the difficulty of facilities is designed in layers: the younger age group focuses on safety protection and basic physical exercise, while the older age group emphasizes skill challenges and competitive attributes. This ensures that children of different age groups can obtain suitable play experiences, maximizing the coverage of the target customer group.
Linked Layout of High-Altitude and Ground Facilities
Taking advantage of the 6-meter clear height, a three-dimensional play system of "high-altitude expansion + ground interaction" is created. Light Strip Speaker Slide
As the core attraction at the entrance, the curved slide design accommodates a 6-meter playground height. The main body of the slide is embedded with a multi-colored LED light strip, which changes from warm yellow to bright blue in sync with the rhythm of the slide, and is equipped with soft cushioning.
High-Altitude Rope Course Area
Utilizing a 6-meter clear height, the three-dimensional expansion space features a steel framed elevated walkway equipped with Koala safety and life-enhancing equipment. Basic levels, such as low balance beams and simple climbing nets, are designed for children aged 5-8. Children aged 9-15 can tackle more challenging activities, such as high rope bridges and suspended walkways. The columns of the expansion racks are painted blue, ensuring visual recognition and stimulating children's desire for adventure. Safety locks are installed at the entrance to ensure children use the area under the guidance of safety personnel, ensuring a balanced experience for both enjoyment and safety.
Wall-Mounted Challenge Area
A vertical puzzle space has been created along the side walls of the venue. Purple is the primary color, and cartoon sports graphics enhance the atmosphere. Climbing points, platforms, and other puzzle elements are incorporated, with motorized equipment randomly increasing the difficulty. A 30cm-thick cushioning mat is laid at the bottom of the wall, requiring children to coordinate their hands and feet to complete the puzzle, improving their coordination and core strength, and enhancing playfulness.
Competitive Climbing Wall
The modular design features two difficulty zones to accommodate different age groups: a flat climbing wall for ages 5-8, offering a lower level of difficulty; and a curved climbing route for ages 9-15. The climbing wall features a customizable, colorful backdrop and a safety rope system at the top, with professional instructors providing on-site guidance. Regular climbing competitions are held to attract children, boost the program's popularity, and make it a popular choice for children in Shandong Province to learn rock climbing.
Plum Blossom Pile Climbing Area
The playground features plum blossom piles, each with a different level of difficulty. The piles are layered in height: the tops are covered with non-slip rubber and the bottoms are connected to a stable base. Children are required to maintain balance and move between the piles, developing their balance and concentration. Resting seats are provided around the perimeter, allowing parents to supervise their children closely.
Trampoline Area
The facility comprises two functional modules: the Spider Wall and the Trampoline Slam Dunk Zone. The floor is covered with professional trampoline mats and surrounded by black protective netting. The Spider Wall area features a yellow and black sticky surface and cartoon-themed clothing, allowing children to stick to the wall after jumping. Suitable for all ages 5-15, the Trampoline Slam Dunk Zone allows children to perform slam dunks by bouncing on a trampoline, satisfying their interest in sports and competitive pursuits. Safety signs are posted throughout the area, and staff are on-site to maintain order and prevent collisions.
All facilities comply with the national "Safety Standards for Children's Amusement Facilities": The protective netting in the aerial play area has a load-bearing capacity of 150kg, the safety ropes on the climbing wall have been tested for 100,000 tension cycles, and the protective netting in the trampoline area is 2 meters high. All facilities are made of environmentally friendly and non-toxic materials. The rock climbing wall slabs have an anti-slip coefficient of ≥0.8, and the rebound rate of the cushioning pads meets national standards. Regular comprehensive inspections of the facilities (e.g., the stability of the piles and the firmness of the climbing points) are carried out. Electrical equipment (such as light strips and timing devices) is sealed with anti-leakage protection to ensure the safety of children aged 5-15. Emergency plans are also in place to handle emergencies.
