What can 300 square meters do? In the eyes of many investors, this area might only be enough to open a small trampoline park. However, in a certain location in South America, Pokiddo partnered with a client to transform 300㎡ into a family playground integrating a soft play castle, slides, climbing structures, and ball pits — ensuring not only that younger children have a great time, but also that parents enjoy comfortable spaces to stay with them. This article analyzes how this “small yet comprehensive” project uses design to amplify the commercial value of a limited area.
〖How Fast Can a 300㎡ Playground Achieve Payback?〗 Three zones — toddler soft play, slides with ball pits, and climbing challenges — all packed into a community commercial center.
Project Type: Client‘s own brand family playground
Total Area: 300 square meters
Location: South America
The investor behind this project is an entrepreneur in South America with deep insight into the family market. He found that in the community commercial centers of his city, there is strong demand from families for indoor playgrounds that are “safe, clean, and highly playable.” However, the market either offers large-scale comprehensive playgrounds with high investment thresholds, or small venues with monotonous equipment that children quickly grow tired of after just a couple of visits.
At 300㎡, the scale is just right — “room to advance, room to defend.” The investment is manageable, yet the space can accommodate a sufficiently rich mix of attractions. The client wanted to create a family playground truly suitable for children aged 0-8, where parents would be willing to come every week.

The site conditions are well-organized with moderate ceiling height, providing a good foundation for the design. The core approach of the Pokiddo design team is: replace “single-use” with “composite-style” to create a sense of depth within the limited area.
Design Highlights:
Functional Zoning, Active-Quiet Separation: The space is divided into a toddler soft play zone, a slide-and-ball-pit zone, a climbing challenge zone, and a parent rest area. Each zone is relatively independent yet visually connected, making it easy for parents to supervise.
Vertical Space Utilization: Multi-layer climbing structures and aerial walkways allow the 300㎡ floor area to “grow upward,” effectively increasing the actual playable area.
Thematic Visual Design: A bright and warm color palette combined with cartoon-style soft play shapes creates an inviting and safe atmosphere.

This 300㎡ project covers nearly all the most popular attraction combinations for a younger children’s playground:
- Soft Play Castle Combo: A multi-layer structure integrating climbing, slides, and tunnels — the “popularity center” of the playground.
- Ball Pool: Connected to the slides, brightly colored, and a favorite among younger children.
- Soft Play Climbing Area: Safe materials, suitable for toddlers to practice balance and coordination.
- Interactive Game Zone: Fun mini-games that add parent-child interaction scenarios.
- Parent Rest Area: Located adjacent to the activity zones, equipped with comfortable seating and a beverage counter, making the wait less tedious.
After opening, this 300㎡ family playground quickly became the top choice for families in the surrounding community. Its success validates several core business principles for small-area playgrounds:
Lower Investment Threshold, Shorter Payback Period: Compared to thousand-square-meter projects, the site rent, construction costs, and equipment investment for a 300㎡ space are much more manageable, making it more suitable for first-time investors in the industry.
Lower Operating Costs, More Flexible Management: A smaller area means fewer required staff, simpler daily maintenance, and efficient operation with minimal personnel even during peak weekend hours.
Precisely Targets High-Frequency Family Spending: By focusing on the 0-8 age group and designing the space and attractions around “parent-child bonding,” parents are willing to visit weekly, generating stable cash flow.
Complementarity with the Mall, Mutual Traffic Generation: As a complementary offering in a community commercial center, a small playground can bring a steady stream of families to the mall, boosting overall commercial vibrancy.
